Once v.3.1 is released, it will be necessary to pre-enter all the technical configuration required for the operation and maintenance of stand alone and grid connected solar equipment. This preset configuration will make it a lot easier for RESCOs and Power Utilities to implement the software.
This activity is made of the following tasks:
- a set of technical parameters (e.g. voltage, power...) and their values for the equipment currently in use in the Pacific
- a set of variables that can be monitored for that given item (e.g. voltage at any given time),
- a set of preventive maintenance activities (cleaning the glass) and,
- possible troubleshooting and repairs actions (changing a faulty connection in the PV panel).
Justification: Having a shared configuration of technical parameters will facilitate knowledge-sharing and the comparison of data among RESCOs. This means that potential users of the software will not only gain as a result of gaining access to an open source and freeware software application, but the software application will be distributed with copyleft documentation to be used by any RESCOs or Power Utilities at no extra cost.
